Request Account Deletion

In the app

• Open the Account tab.
• Tap Delete account.
• Enter your password, or type DELETE if you signed up with Google and never set a password, then tap Delete account.

On the website

Sign in at bettawork.ng, open Account, and choose Delete account. You can also use the button on this page.

If you can’t sign in

Email hello@bettawork.ng from the address on your account, with the subject “Delete my account”. If you no longer have that email address, tell us the name and phone number on the account, and we will check it is yours before deleting it. We complete deletion within 30 days, usually much sooner, and confirm by email.

What is deleted

• Your name, email address, phone number and password.
• Your profile photo, and your link to Google and its profile picture if you used Continue with Google.
• Your saved professionals, your notifications, and your sign-in on every device.
• If you are a professional: your business profile is taken down and emptied. Its description, phone numbers, services, prices and all its photos are deleted, and it disappears from search.
• Copies of the emails we sent you.

Any open requests, sent or received, are cancelled, and the other person sees that they were cancelled.

What is kept, and why

Some records are shared with other people, and deleting them would rewrite someone else’s history. These stay, with your identity removed:

• Past requests and their messages, showing “Deleted user” in place of your name. The phone number and address you gave on your requests are removed. The words in messages stay as written.
• Reviews you wrote stay under “Deleted user”, because a professional’s rating is built from them. If you are a professional, the reviews of your business stay with the removed profile and are no longer shown.
• Reports you made stay, without your details, so the moderation record is complete.
• Counts that identify no one, such as how many times a profile was contacted.

We may keep specific information for longer where the law requires it, for example to deal with fraud or a legal claim. The Privacy Policy has the details.

After deletion

You are signed out everywhere. Your email address and phone number can be used for a new account, and a Google account you used can sign up again. A new account starts afresh and cannot recover the old one’s reviews or history.
